What can I use to stick glitter wrapping paper?
In order to stick glitter wrapping paper successfully, do not use ordinary office tape. High-performance adhesives are to be used. The glitter is irregular, so that a thin and solid tape only contacts the upper parts of the bumps. A strong, two-sided carpet fastening tape or an overgrip scrapbooking tape is also effective in the sense that the thick layer of adhesive can fill into the minute crevices. It must contain an adhesive that creeps well; one that bends and spreads around the glitter as time runs on. Acrylic adhesive can also be used as a high tack adhesive. Hot glue would be a good choice, however, be careful with the heat, or the polyester glitter will melt. Spray adhesives that are used in the industry provide an even coating that fills the gaps, but are too messy to use at home.
Ordinary tape is just not going to work. You will require something that will act rather like a liquid anchor than a flat sticker. Rubber based adhesives that are aggressive usually offer the required building to be able to maintain the sticking together of low energy plastic glitter without peeling off when you move.

Industrial sticker work involves keying of the surface as a fundamental technique. It would be a good idea to keep the paper in a dry environment, as the moisture loosens the specialty tape bond. Do not use the generic tapes in the desk drawer, which are referred to as the invisible tapes, that is not strong enough.
Why won’t my tape stick to glitter wrapping paper?
The problem is the competent contact area. Normal tape has nearly 100 percent contact on plain paper, whereas it is only in touch with tops of tiny pieces of plastic or glass on glitter. The outcome is a flat sticker that attempts to stick on a bed of microscopic nails. Glitter manufacturers will use a very thin coating of silicone or oily substance to prevent glitter shedding, used as a release agent. This thin layer minimizes the wet-out of the tape and the air pockets are trapped and the bond is weakened until a small amount of tension causes it to be ripped open. The tape is inflexible to fit the cracks of the glitter. To adhere with a high degree of security, the adhesive should be pliable enough to creep into the dales and form van der Waals forces.
And it is not about being clumsy; it is physics and material science. Glitter paper has become the last level of gift wrapping after decades of research on adhesion failures. Tape lacks sufficient bite, and slides off the glitter heights when touched going in the least way.
How to stop glitter falling off paper?
To prevent glitter to fall off, you can use a clear sealant or an aerosol fixative designated to porous paper. This forms a second polymer coating which fixes the glitter. The reason as to why acrylic based sprays are good is that they remain flexible and when the paper is folded, they do not crack. Sprays with high content of solid are best. Do not use water-based seals that are likely to warp and buckle paper.
Rub the sealant on lightly enough to not fill the glitter. An adequate fixative ensures that the refractive index of the sparkle is great and therefore the glitter continues to reflect and does not leave a mark. It is wonderful when the paper remains clean.
Does hot glue work on glitter wrapping paper?
Hot glue is also one of the few that can take the uneven surface of glitter paper. Its liquid nature enables it to pour in the minute cracks between the particles of glitter. As it cools it forms a mechanical interlock as opposed to a superficial bond. Normal tape does not work since they cannot moisturize bumps, whereas hot glue absorbs the glitter providing a good base. Be watchful of the heat: excess glue will melt through polyester glitter or the paper film creating a scalding mess. Viscous type of glue provides a firmer bite, yet it requires speedy work before it becomes less viscous. The craft room is a fine touch.
Hot glue has the highest strength, also known as initial grab, that can be found only in low-energy glass or plastic surfaces, a result of laboratory tests. That is the only means of preventing seams bursting open when hanging a present. Much heavier than tape, hot glue is nonetheless better with the structural integrity of textured papers.
